So you're still using the oldies of Microsoft Windows? Perhaps you want to get the most out of Windows 95, 98 or Millennium Edition? If so, read this page as a tip or two may help!

Note: When these sections instruct you to "run", "type" or execute command lines, they mean typing the commands/instruction into Start->Run. Any reference to HKLM (HKey Local Machine) is a location within the Windows Registry (Start->Regedit). These tips & tricks assume you have sufficient knowledge to carry out the instructions and Guru Guy is not responsible for any consequences of implementing them.

Legacy Windows 9x
Fool the Windows 95 upgrade installation: Windows 95 upgrade requires previous versions of windows to install.
Either

Create a file in notepad and save to c:\ as win386.exe
or

Save to Windows 95 boot floppy a file named Windows.cn_
To install Windows 95, 98/98SE and Windows ME without Setup checking that your PC meets the minimum hardware requirements, run the setup file with the switch /im
e.g. setup.exe /im
